Court refuses NOM request to halt marriage equality in Oregon

Legal ProceedingsThe U.S. Supreme Court has refused to halt new marriages between same-sex couples in Oregon. The National Organization for Marriage sought a stay of a lower court's decision allowing marriages to take place. The 9th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals denied a similar request two weeks ago.

GSE joins campaign to provide shelter for homeless LGBT youth

lgbt homeless youth photo courtesy of Lambda LegalA new nationwide campaign is calling for as many as 22,000 beds for homeless youth estimated to be on the streets. Garden State Equality in Montclair says it is proud to join in the efforts of the National Coalition for the Homeless and the Ali Forney Center as they launch a grassroots campaign to demand a national response to youth homelessness.

GSE making historyGarden State Equality will hold its annual "Equality Walk" on Saturday, June 21 in Montclair.  The theme will be 'Taking Steps to Protect our Future,' which organizers say reflects an emphasis on strengthening our recent wins in anti-bullying and marriage equality, while continuing to push for protections for LGBT youths, seniors and the transgender community.

Out with Soul Football ight in PhiladelphiaThe Philadelphia Soul arena football team will host the nation's first pro- football LGBT- awareness game, "Out with the Soul, Champions for Equality," an event to help raise awareness and show support for the LGBT community. "Out with the Soul" is scheduled for Saturday, May 10 at the Wells Fargo Center during the Soul's game vs. the New Orleans VooDoo, with kickoff set for 6pm.

New Hope Celebrates Gay PrideFor the first time the Annual New Hope Celebrates Gay Pride Parade will kick off in Lambertville, New Jersey before marching across the Delaware River into New Hope Pennsylvania. The theme "Bridge to Equality" will highlight the fight for marriage equality across the country. 

LGBT homeless shelter fundraiser in Newark on Saturday

Rainbow FamilyThe LGBT RAIN Foundation will support a brand-new shelter for LGBT homeless youth in Essex County later this year. The shelter will be only the second in New Jersey for LGBT youth in crisis.The first fundraising appreciation dinner will be on Saturday, April 26, at Chateau of Spain in Newark at 6pm.
