Buddies of NJ chooses a new executive director

Theresa Coppla takes Buddies of NJ helm as the Executive Director 

Buddies of NJ, Inc, the AIDS service and support organization for Bergen and Passaic Counties has announced that Theresa Coppla has been appointed as the Executive Director. It became official on March 1, 2019. Ms. Coppla has provided financial management and accounting services for the organization for nearly a decade.

Recently, Coppla stepped in as Interim Director for five months. During that period she gained more knowledge of the organization. Prior to working for Buddies of NJ, Coppla had her own business. She was the lead financial manager and business consultant to multiple clients during many years. Coppla had exposure to a variety of businesses projects and concentrated singularly on Buddies of NJ in recent years. The Hackensack, NJ based organization provides support service, education, resources, and care to people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS.

Coppla is expected to apply her business expertise to take Buddies of NJ to the next level. The Board of Trustees is interested in strategic planning, program development, fiscal management and staff development.

Martin Gilbert, DPM, Chair of the organization, and his fellow board members said they are thrilled to welcome Ms. Coppla into the Executive role.  “As Interim Executive Director, Ms. Coppla has demonstrated a deep understanding of the mission and work of this organization, as well as an ability to keep moving us forward at a time of transition,” Dr. Gilbert notes. “We are eager to chart a new course for Buddies of NJ with Ms. Coppla at the helm.”
