A Chat With CHARLIE

1955

Can you give me a brief history of where you grew up and what it was like, and where you are from now?

Charlie Demos: I grew up in Fairfield, CT. It’s a very white-bread suburban town near the beach. It was very difficult growing up there. I dealt with homophobia on a day-to-day basis and the overall tolerance for diversity was very slim. Establishing an identity as an individual; as a free thinking, liberal artist? A battle to say the least! Luckily, I have extremely supportive and loving parents. Plus, attending college at Bennington College was a complete emancipation!

How did you get involved in music?
