Under the Moon is a warm and welcoming BYOB cafe with inviting, mismatched decor. The flavors are reminiscent of Italy, Argentina, and Spain. I chose to bring to this brunch “mimosa in a bottle” Opera Prima, which is a young sparking wine that is served cold.
I started with the Corn Brule, a sweet corn soufflé with caramelized leeks, and baked artichoke au gratin. A creamy mixture of cheese folded into the artichoke hearts was baked to perfection, and an awesome way to kickstart my taste buds.
With taste buds now fully aroused, I moved on to the Jimmy Jam, a grilled chicken breast layered with roasted red peppers, fresh mozzarella, and topped with a pesto aioli, served over a pressed mini focaccia loaf. This dish did not disappoint, and was juicy and full of flavor. I followed the chicken dish with steak and eggs. The steak was tender and cooked to the perfect temperature, as were the eggs.
Five stars to the staff who were charming and work as a tight-knit team. Under the Moon is a great place for a Sunday brunch or dinner with friends and family. They also participate in New Jersey’s restaurant week from March 29 – April 3. If you find yourself in the Bordentown area, be sure to visit this little gem of a restaurant.
