“Real Housewives of New Jersey” star Teresa Giudice has been a breakout star of the show since the show premiered five years ago. After a couple of rough seasons with family fighting and drama front and center, this season, we may see things change for the better and see some goold old fashioned fun. Here, Teresa talks to Entertainment Editor Cookie about the new season of  “Housewives”, her new cookbook “Fabulicious On The Grill” and who she would want to join the show as castmembers.

Teresa, thanks for taking the time to chat with me. You’re down in the Lone Star state of Texas currently right?
Yes I am. I got to co-host “Good Day Houston” with Deborah Duncan for a full hour this morning, it was so much fun.
Tell me about your latest cookbook “Fabulicious On The Grill,” I tried the Marinated Chicken Breasts with Grilled Apple Rings this weekend, and it was amazing!
It’s really refreshing right?! This book is all about eating clean, and exercising of course. You are what you eat, people need to get that by now. I’ve been exercising for the past two seasons and it’s been great, they really go hand in hand. I cook the way you see in the book, simple and easy, and always with fresh ingredients. That’s really what people need to understand, it doesn’t have to be fancy. You can make a great meal with fresh and simple ingredients.
Have you always had such a passion for cooking? Is it something you are trying to pass onto your four daughters?
Oh absolutely! I’m first generation Italian, it’s definitely what I love to do. The cooking, the cleaning, all of the traditional things like that, like the old days. I really think that the new generation loses that, and it’s really important. Those are the things that were instilled in me, like keeping a good house and having old school values. I want my daughters to do these things for their families, which is what really inspired me to do the books. It’s a memoir for my daughters to have for the future.

Moving onto the show, you’ve said that we were going to see the “fun” Teresa again this year. It goes without saying that you’ve had a couple rough seasons. Do you miss the “fun’ Teresa?
I absolutely do! You know, after things started to change, I heard that “they always try to take the strongest one down” and I definitely see that to be true. What people don’t understand is what people saw happen on television really happened to me and to my family. Melissa (Gorga) and Kathy (Wakile) joined the cast behind my back and I truly did not know; I only found out when Andy Cohen called me to tell me. That was definitely hard for me. Imagine that playing out and your family is saying things about you, and people really don’t know what sides to take. They weren’t going to make the new cast members look bad, and I’d already been on for two seasons. At first I didn’t get it, but it does make for great ratings. It was a really hard time and it was a hard thing for me to deal with. Right now though, things are really good with my family; you will just have to stay tuned to see how things play out.

Since Season One, you’ve always been a fan favorite for the gay boys. Why do you think that is?
I think I should be asking you that question (laughs)! You know, I really don’t know, I’m just myself. I’m happy go lucky, full of life, and I try to live life to the fullest. The gay community is fantastic, they live life to the fullest and they don’t let things take them down. We both try to give off lots of good energy.

Any sneak peek’s you can give me on Season Five?
I see there are some new girls joining the cast as “Friends Of Housewives” [notorious troublemaker Kim D and real estate agent Jennifer Dalton join the cast this season.]

Would you like to see the cast changed up as the other franchises have done? Or would you rather see this cast stay together?
You know, if anything I would like to have another family come on and join us. Kathy has three sister-in-laws that are Lebanese, so that would be an interesting twist to bring on, and it would definitely keep it in the family. For me, I don’t want to fight with my family, that’s not something I signed up for. Right now, we are in a good place, and I’m gonna stay in that good place. I would know how the show works though, they want drama; but you don’t want the whole world to see that. I definitely try to instill that in my girls though, you don’t fight with your sisters, that’s never ok. They are your family.

We’ve gotten to see your close relationship with your father through each season of “Housewives”. How is your dad doing?
He’s doing better, thanks for asking. Growing up, my dad was pretty tough. We were good kids, both Joe and I were hard workers, and that’s what was instilled in us. My father’s had two open heart surgeries, and my brother and I are adults, he’s not going to tell us how to behave now because we should know. It breaks my heart, the “us” you see on television now is not how we were raised.
I’m the oldest; different blood came on and joined the show and things changed. If my dad was healthy like he was when we were growing up, things definitely would not have played out like this. I didn’t want my daughters to see that, and it wasn’t my doing, and when it happened, I tried to fix it. This season will take you back to Season one, more laughter and definitely the way my family was during Season one as well.

You’re becoming a real mogul, with your fantastic cookbooks, your “Milania Hair Care Line” and the “Fabellini” cocktail line. What could possibly be next?
Oh yeah, I’m not doing it for nothing! (laughs). I’m coming out with my own food, (www.skinnyitalianfoods.com/). There’s an amazing balsamic ketchup, and delicious homemade pasta. The best part is, the foods are coming directly from Italy with all fresh ingredients. I’m trying to keep it as authentic as possible; I’m not ashamed at all, I Iove being Italian, and I just love the culture. They eat so clean and simple, you know? Fabellini (www.tgfabellini.com/) will be changing also, and I’ve partnered up with a company and will be going national in August. I’m changing the look of the bottle, to look more sophisticated as well, Fabellini will be made in Italy as well. I also am still working on my Milania Hair Care Line  (www.milaniahaircare.com/), so yes, I am definitely busy!
