FLASH IN FASHION – Runway Review
Some people believe that the end of summer is marked by the last day that the public pools are open. Others believe the end of summer is marked by the return of European colleagues to their offices. I believe that the end of summer is marked by New York fashion week. For me, fashion week began a day early on September 4th with Patrik Rzepski’s (pronounced Jzepski) spring/summer 2009 show, entitled: “American Berserk.” Famous faces, like Kelly Osbourne, took their places to ghostly sounds of stressed train engines and horns, to reveal a collection of Italian chiffons and silks, paired with stretch rubbers from a German mill that solely produces combat gear fabrics. Paneled and seamed slip dresses, giving “the effect of a corset just come undone,” (according to Patrik) were followed by bodysuits, and more geometrically paneled dresses, as well as pants, in colors of black, nude, sheer, light grey and white.
