North Jersey Pride offers scholarship

North Jersey Pride honored Hetrick-Martin Institute of NJ youth member, Ayannah, with the Youth Upstander Award and a college scholarship of $500 at the North Jersey Pride Festival on Sunday, June 10, 2018 in Maplewood, NJ.

Ayannah has been an HMI: NJ youth member for two years. She has consistently shown leadership skills within HMI say staff members. And she has taken advantage of a number of opportunities provided by the agency. Recently she accepted an internship with Novartis Pharmaceuticals and a number of speaking engagements at HMI: NJ events. In the summer she was an HMI paid Peer Educator.

Ayannah was an honor roll student and an outgoing high school senior at People’s Prep in Newark. She is attending the College of St. Elizabeth this fall with the scholarship help and hopes to become a Veterinarian.

HMI: NJ thanked organizer CJ Prince and the North Jersey Pride Team for their continued support of our New Jersey LGBT young people.
