Although it was cold outside, there was a lot of warmth to go around in Trenton. On Wednesday, December 5, 2018, Trenton’s newly elected Mayor Reed Gusciora officiated at a Christmas tree and Menorah lighting ceremony at City Hall.

Gusciora was elected this past summer as the first openly-gay mayor of Trenton. At the tree lighting ceremony, the Trenton Central High School orchestra opened the festivities with a tribute to Aretha Franklin and a montage of holiday songs. Sprout University choir from  the School of the Arts in Trenton followed with their holiday song program.

The audience, led by Gusciora, bustled up and stood outside to watch the lighting of the fourth candle on the Menorah and the Christmas tree. A marching band signaled the arrival of Santa on a fire truck. Back inside, hot chocolate and cookies were waiting. All in attendance were able to take a photo with Santa.

Mayor Gusciora was a gracious host and extended a warm welcome to all the Trentonian’s who braved the cold. A great start to the Holiday Season!
