From Springsteen to Streep, New Jersey is famous for having tons of talent. The Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, N.J. is lucky enough to have a local star on the rise this Saturday, April 5. Colts Neck resident Hollie Howard stars in “The Broadway Dolls.” It is a uniquely modern musical celebration of Broadway, Rock n ‘ Roll, radio pop and 60 ‘s girl groups.
Howard describes the show as “a diverse evening of song and dance, with performers pulled directly from nearly every Broadway musical in New York, including Wicked, Rent, Hairspray, Memphis, Evita and Jeckyll and Hyde”. Originally performed as a mainstage production called “Tour de Fierce” at the 2011 New York Musical Theatre Festival, this unique theatrical experience has played throughout North America and beyond, most recently returning from a two-week touring engagement in China.
It is an award winning concert experience featuring the most dynamic and talented women of the Broadway stage. The greatest hits of Radio, pop, motown, 1960s, and Broadway are brought to life by powerhouse singers. It is a contemporary, uplifting, and at times hilarious, evening of music and stories brought to you by Broadway’s finest. Theatregoers will leave be dancing in the aisles!
“Dolls Night Out”, is an exciting and interactive pre-show experience featuring Happy hour, dancing with the dolls and is perfect for groups. Some reviews have stated “Emotional… comic… compelling and entertaining concert-style showcase, with ear-filling arrangements and eye-filling choreography” – Newsday NY
