As it happens with everything in life, there are always two sides to a story. It’s part of the duality that governs our entire existence. The same stands true in the world of AIDS, forcing individuals to walk a very fine line in order to keep focused on what’s really important. One aspect of the duality of AIDS may be explained by the very life-saving medications introduced in the mid-nineties. The HAART regimens have had a so-called “Lazarus effect,” the coming back to life from the brink of death effect on HIV/AIDS patients.

Defarra Gaymon went to Branch Brook Park in Newark on a hot Friday evening (July 16, 2010) for reasons we may never be certain of. What we can be certain of is he did not expect to die there. The respected business man expected, we may be sure, to attend his high school reunion in Montclair and return to his wife and four children in Atlanta. That will never happen because a police officer killed him.

Aids Ribbon(Wednesday, July 14, 2010) – Paul Kawata, executive director of the National Minority AIDS Council, posted on the social networking site, Facebook, an open-letter signed by 180 national and community organizations at the forefront of the fight against HIV and AIDS. This letter was in response to the announcement and release of the National HIV/AIDS Strategy (NHAS) yesterday.

When the leaves fall to the ground and the sun sets earlier, individuals mostly aged fourteen to nineteen enter the halls of school once more. For most, the years of high school are supposed to be one’s “golden years;” the time of their lives and of the most self-growth. However, for many teens who identify themselves as gay, lesbian, or bisexual – and those who are supporters or friends of the LGBT student populace – high school becomes a time of hell.
