Bricks is an incredibly handsome Pit Bull Terrier/Shar Pei mix looking for a family to love forever. He is about 8-10 years old and he was surrendered to Franklin Township Animal Shelter in Somerset County because his family could no longer care for him. Bricks loves attention. He loves to lean into you and get belly rubs, and is very affectionate in return. Bricks plays fetch with tennis balls, and loves to be outside. He is looking for a home where he can be the star of the show, without other pets or small children. Bricks is officially a heartworm survivor! His most recent test for heartworm came back negative and he is healthy and feeling good.
This beautiful tortie girl is Rosa. She was also surrendered to the shelter when her family could no longer care for her. Rosa is about 8 years old and adores attention. She loves pets and having her head and ears scratched and she gives friendly, appreciative head-butts in return. Rosa’s meow is more like a croak and it is very adorable. Rosa’s one request is that you don’t pick her up. According to her senior blood work, she is pre-diabetic. She is now on a diet and the vet is hopeful that she will lose weight and avoid diabetes. Rosa prefers a home with older children and will probably be okay with other cats.
Second Chance for Animals is an all-volunteer organization devoted to enhancing the lives of animals living in shelters. They currently partner with the Franklin Township Animal Shelter in Somerset County. Second Chance for Animals provides the shelter with financial assistance and volunteers. Their mission is to prevent cruelty to animals by facilitating the adoption of homeless animals through community outreach, educational programs, participation in adoption days, and by improving conditions in animal shelters, and by supporting animal health initiatives such as spay/neuter and vaccination programs.
Their adoption fee is $60 per pet (with a discount available for adopting two pets together). All animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on all age-appropriate shots prior to adoption. Dogs have also been tested for heartworm, and cats for FIV.
Please stop by the shelter Tuesday-Friday 12-3 pm, or Saturday 12-6 pm to meet your new bute buddy!
