LGBT Catholics and Friends organization invites the NJ LGBT community to an LGBT Pilgrimage to the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark, on Sunday, May 21 with Mass at 3:30 pm followed by a tour of the Cathedral at 4:30 pm and an optional additional dinner afterward at a Portuguese restaurant in the Ironbound section of Newark.
“With the blessings and best wishes of His Eminence Joseph Cardinal Tobin, C.Ss.R., Archbishop of Newark, please join members of the Catholic LGBT community and their families for Mass to be celebrated by the Rev. Francis Gargani, C.Ss.R. in the Lady Chapel of the basilica. After Mass, join us for a tour of this historic building which was elevated to a minor basilica by Pope John Paul II when he visited Newark in 1995. A freewill offering will be taken at the event to cover the cost of the tour, a Mass stipend, etc. “
For those arriving via PATH or NJ Transit into Newark Penn Station, the organizers will try to coordinate rides from Penn station to the basilica.
