Aiden Leslie says it is rough for male vocalists in the...

Aiden LeslieAiden, thanks for taking the time to speak with me. Like me, you're a child of some legendary New York City places; Palladium, Roxy, & Twilo. What do you miss the most about those times?

Those were my training grounds, where I became inspired; where I found myself; The clubs, the DJ's, the nightlife, it was all amazing. Personally, I don't miss it that much really. New York City was very different then. Everything changes. Everything moves on.

The Olympic Winter Games: Will you be watching?

Sochi Rainbow Olympic logoWill you watch the Winter Olympics? To be honest, I haven't thought about it much. Besides the opening ceremony and the closing ceremony, I rarely follow any Olympic game. It seems that the LGBT community remains divided about what it should do. There has been no one to lead us in saying "No! I'm sick and tired and I won't take it anymore."

The dark early days of AIDS

commentary.

Watching "The Dallas Buyers Club" on the big screen this past week, the new film about the early days of the HIV/ AIDS epidemic, had me recalling those dark days when we as a community were literally fighting for our very lives, and appreciating the real heroes of the era. For those with delicate sensibilities, you might not want to read my following memories of those early days.

Both companies are working on a longer term agreement that would work to better educate mobile app users about HIV transmission.

Washington’s San Juan Islands

Out of Town:

It's amazing how easily you can feel completely removed from crowds, urbanity, and the busy pace of modern life, even when you're within 50 miles of several major cities. A nice case in point is the San Juan Islands, a blissfully tranquil and picturesque archipelago in northern Puget Sound that's just 65 miles north of Seattle, 40 miles south of Vancouver, and 10 miles east of British Columbia's capital city, Victoria.

“Well Strung” will be appearing at Bucks County Playhouse on Saturday

I was instructed to dial a 213 area code at 11 am, input my access code, and I would be connected to the conference call. Christopher Marchant was joined by Mark Cortale, Well Strung's producer/ manager/ co-writer, to speak with me. Three of the quartet members were not available I was told. I asked if it really was early in Los Angeles. It was explained to me that they weren't anywhere near area code 213, which is Los Angeles, so it wasn't 8 am. Rather, the quartet had just performed the previous evening in Provincetown, their final show of their run.

Alec Baldwin and homophobia: A race-based double standard?

commentary.

Alec Baldwin has done it again — caught on camera in a cussing tirade hurling anti-gay epithets at the vulturous paparazzi on his heels. This time Baldwin's accused of spewing out the phrase, "c-ksucking f-g."
